Can chiropractic help posture?

Absolutely. First we deliver specific adjustments to the “locked” bones of the spine and then we implement a spinal rehabilitation program so that your muscles are retrained to hold the spine bones in the proper position.

How does someone get poor posture?

Sitting at a computer all day, sitting in a commute, or sitting in front of the TV. These are all positions that put the spine in stressful FLEXED position. When the bones are not used to moving into full extension, then the muscles, ligaments, and soft tissues of the spine adapt and take on new form. This makes it very difficult to change on your own and hence leads into poor posture.

Who is a risk of poor posture?

Anyone that spends the majority of their time sitting! Students, desk jobs, and drivers. Even though computers have made our lives easier in many ways, they have also created many problems. People are developing headaches, neck pain, back pain, and poor breathing patterns as a result of “life being easier” with the computer.

How does poor posture impact my health?

Your nervous system is protected and housed by the spine. When the spine loses its’ normal curves due to poor posture a multitude of health problems can occur. Problems can range from headaches, neck pain, back pain, breathing problems, poor circulation and vision problems…just to name a few.

How do I know if I have poor posture?

An easy way is to look in the mirror. In standing neutral position, your ears, shoulders and hips should level with one another. If you have a head tilt, low shoulder, or high hip you may be susceptible to poor posture or you may HAVE poor posture. The other position to check is from the side. Have a spouse or significant other look at your ear hole, tip of the shoulder and middle of your hip. In the standing position, all three anatomical structures should be lined up. If your head is leaning forward or your hips are off line, then you suffer from poor posture. You bones are out of alignment and this is likely impacting your health.
